This thesis was a requirement for the degree of Master of Fine Arts, in Art, in the Graduate College of The University of Iowa. Due to the fact it was written in 1981, the section on Aesthetical Usage, which discusses "Contemporary Artists/Potters", and "Personal Work", is outdated. Therefore, I have excluded it. Presented here is the discussion of extruder types, dies, and extrusion problems.
